VerifiedBiz (operated by OriginWeb Solutions) publishes a directory of Australian businesses built from public government registers. We treat all sole trader and partnership records as personal information and apply the Australian Privacy Principles to everything we do, whether or not an exemption might technically apply.

What we collect and where it comes from

• Government registers: the Australian Business Register bulk extract, the ASIC Business Names Register, and state trade licensing registers (currently the QBCC Licensed Contractors Register). These provide ABN, entity type, names, state/postcode, GST status, and licence details.
• Business websites: for enrichment we may record factual details a business publishes about itself (services, hours, contact details). We copy facts only — never descriptions, photos or reviews — and never collect from behind logins or from other directories.
• From you: details you submit when claiming a listing or requesting a correction.

How we use and disclose it

We publish business listings on this website — that is the product. Listings are also readable by search engines and AI systems. We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing email to addresses collected from registers or websites.

Protections for sole traders

• We do not publish personal mobile numbers or residential addresses sourced from registers or the web. Until a listing is claimed by its owner, location is shown at suburb level only.
• Sole traders may request suppression of personal identifiers at any time via the corrections form. Approved suppressions take effect on the site and in our sitemaps within 24 hours.

Automated processing disclosure

Listing descriptions are generated by AI from the sourced facts described above, and claim onboarding is AI-assisted. Publication decisions (whether a listing meets our quality gate) are automated; correction, removal and licence-match review decisions involve a human.

Correction and removal rights

Anyone can request a correction or removal via the corrections form on every listing. We aim to resolve all requests within 5 business days.
